St. John's Wort has an affinity for the sun which corresponds to the nervous system and nerves in general. It blooms around the summer solstice during the longest days of the year when the sun is at its height.
Moving into the darker winter months, I love to integrate the oil of St. John's Wort into my daily rituals to bring sunshine where the darkness runs deep.
Deeply nourishing to the nerves, this oil can be applied topically wherever there is nerve pain, muscle tension, or recent musculoskeletal injury. By stimulating nerve regeneration and repair, St. John's wort is a highly supportive plant ally where the nervous system is involved.
Others might anoint themselves with St. John's Wort oil to uplift their nervous system during the gloomier months of the year while providing much needed moisturization for the skin.
Note: While St. John's Wort can interact with many common pharmaceuticals when taken internally (see the list here), topical external use is not shown to have these same interactions, but it is always best to do your research before using any herbal supplement.
Ingredients: fresh st. john's wort (Hypericum perforatum) flowering tops infused in organic sunflower oil with vitamin E oil and rosemary C02 extract added to preserve
*we don't use any creepy preservatives so please use within 6-8 months of purchase

First Curve's Community Apothecary is a community outreach program that utilizes circular economy practices to connect with urban foragers, local urban farms, and community gardens within Chicago. Collaborating with these plant folx allows us to share in the abundance of wild and weedy medicinal plants, which we tend, harvest, process, extract, and offer back to the community as herbal remedies at an accessible and sliding-scale price.
